Agricom.id, LAMPUNG - Ministry of Agriculture through Directorate of Food Plantation Protection optimized the acceleration program of Labor Incentive Plant Pest Control for beans and cassava in many regions, such as, in Lampung Province to maximize the food needs nationally and welfare the farmers in Covid-19 pandemic.
Head of Control and Laboratory Balai Proteksi Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura (BPTPH) Lampung Province, Andrio Putra Gunawan supported it. “We are ready to support and help the field activity. We would do the program which is supported by the central government, realized 100% in March,” he said, as in the official statement to Agricom.id.
The program is part of cultivation to reduce the population/attack of plant pests in Covid-19 pandemic both by preventive or responsive ways. This would involved the farmers, the officers, agriculture agency, the officers in BPTPH.
The groups running the programs were Kelompok Tani Mandiri in Village of Waykalam, Sub district of Penengahan, District of Lampung Selatan, Lampung Province. The plantation which was controls was local bean, attacked by leaf rust disease.
The officers of pest plant control in Sub district of Penengahan knew that the beans in the group were hit by minor leaf rust. They applied natural fungicide to control it. One pest plant officer, Safrudin told that the disease was under control. “We decided to apply biological fungicide. Besides it is safe for the farmers, it is also environmental,” he said.
In the same chance, Director of Food Plantation Protection, Mohammad Takdir Mulyadi said that his side is ready to support every activity which is environmental. “We do make program to empower the farmers by making their own natural control, such as, biological agent control,” he said.
He also mentioned and hoped, this would be immediately done in other regions which get the allocation. “We do hope that this would be immediately realized and the helps would be given immediately and the farmers would do it. Our target is that in April 80% would be realized,” Takdir explained.
In other place, General Director of Food Plantation, Suwandi fully supported the pest plant control as one way to monitor the food plantation production from the plant pest. “The central, regional government, agriculture agency in the province or district, field officers, and the people are always in synergy to secure the food plantations from plant pests,” he said.
It was told by Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo that every officer in Ministry of Agriculture should monitor and secure the food production from the pest attack nationally. (A2)
